Quick Update...

9:37.12 seconds later I am done! Full details later... I totally enjoyed every single minute of the race (even crying on the bike because I was so scared going down hills in the rain!).

Just wanted to thank everyone for the support... you all are awesome... and to answer your question... No, I did not get my Kona slot. I am not even upset... I totally believe with all my heart everything happens for a reason. I gave it my all on the most challenging IM of my life! (YES! Kona is WAY easier!!) and I cannot complain about my new PR.

Naomi was brilliant today and totally deserves the Kona slot.
And now for a favor NO comments or emails that say "sorry Bree" or anything along those lines, you know I don't believe in them...

Cheers! You guys rock!

I think you hold the record in that you hold the best times of anyone in your Ironman performances for someone who still hasn't got a slot.
Well, if you can't do Kona, there is an Ironman in southern Taiwan in October this year. I cannot do it as I missed the age grouper application deadline. However, I could carry your drinks as you train for it, and I won't take a chainsaw to your bike.
You did just great. I agree it does not matter about the slot. There are lots of lovely races to choose from.

I am GLAD that you had fun out there. The photos and descriptions of the race course and weather on IM Live were incredible--the fog made everything surreal-looking. Have really been enjoying your travel journal and photos. Thank you for inspiring me to watch Memoirs of a Geisha which I've had hanging around my house for 2 months. Your descriptions of the vending machines and beds brought back memories from my trip to northern Japan over 20 years ago! (Has Jim had one of the those grape sodas with the peeled grapes in them that feels like an eye-ball in your mouth?) Enjoy the rest of your trip. Congrats on a hard-fought race!
