Breathe. Hang on. Hold Tight...

Tomorrow is the big day. Every day before race day I just think about having my little baby (Kainoa pictured above) and whatever task is at hand all of a sudden loses any real fear...
Having Kainoa has given me strength beyond what it takes me to get through a long day of swim-bike-run. That said: I am ready.
Penticton is absolutely beautiful today! Hardly a cloud in the sky, gentle breeze, it has warmed up, and the little town is full of great people ready to race or support. It seems as if everyone is part of the Ironman Canada experience.
ALL the best to everyone racing tomorrow! And to Eileen & Katya & the those racing IM Louisville next weekend... enjoy tomorrow from your couch... your turn is next!!

August 23, 2008 3:08 PM
Good luck, Bree! And thanks for the reminder that Ironman is sort of "minor" compared to giving birth. Will be cheering for you tomorrow, and thinking of you as I go through the same process next Sunday in Louisville myself!
August 23, 2008 3:08 PM
It was only after having Willa that I finally realized how much I was capable of... Good luck tomorrow!! You'll be awesome.
August 23, 2008 3:20 PM
Good luck girl! We will be praying for you all the way! Courtney and Aaron
August 23, 2008 3:36 PM
Hope you feel fresh and relaxed. On the run, don't worry if you think you are far behind, just run up to the next man, and pick the men off (and the women when you see them) one by one. Slowly surely does it.
August 23, 2008 4:10 PM
Go get em Bree ! Have a great race !! ~ Carolyn
August 23, 2008 5:14 PM
Prayers, cheers, bicycle rings will go out to you as we "watch" you online! Me, Lindsay, Michelle and Nick love you and our love follows you everywhere you go!

August 24, 2008 6:12 AM
Hang in there on the bike! The whole world is watching you now, and rooting for you, too. Stay positive! You can do it!
August 24, 2008 6:21 AM
Concern! The IMC spotters appear to have "lost" Bree, so I really do not know what is going on. I hope they just did not see her and that she is still maintaining her position. Don't know where to post news (or comments on a lack of it) like this, here or somewhere else.
August 24, 2008 9:15 AM
I've got a message into Ironman asking about her. If I hear anything, I'll post it.
L
August 24, 2008 9:21 AM
They said spotters were having a rough time moving around the course due to traffic. She's okay, she's okay!Keep believing it!
August 24, 2008 9:35 AM
In an email to me, Ironman does not have word as of yet on her position.
L
August 24, 2008 9:38 AM
FYI they won't know anything until she crosses the next timing mat, at T2. If someone drops out of the race it will take some time for that information to be known.
August 24, 2008 9:47 AM
BREE....GO GO GO......This drives me crazy how can she be in fourth place and then she is not even metioned....you would think they would say SOMETHING......Where is she??????=d
August 24, 2008 9:47 AM
I just talked to Ironman and they said that there is still no word.
Most important, there is not word of any accidents ...
I'll keep you all posted.
L
August 24, 2008 9:58 AM
Bree had a flat tire...she's back on the road again...not sure of her time...
August 24, 2008 10:05 AM
Bree just came into T2 with Sarah Gross..... they just showed her hopping off the bike and picking her wedgie! She'll like that! GO BREE!
August 24, 2008 10:10 AM
And now the work will begin....
this marathon will teach her a lot of pacing, racing and strategy.
Fingers crossed.
August 24, 2008 10:15 AM
You are doing wonderful! We are pulling for you all the way!! I am so nervous and yet excited for you! Can only imagine how you must feel! Courtney and Aaron
August 24, 2008 10:28 AM

August 24, 2008 10:30 AM

GO BREE!!!!!!!! You're a rock start runner!! Go for it!

August 24, 2008 10:35 AM

August 24, 2008 10:36 AM

August 24, 2008 10:38 AM

August 24, 2008 10:40 AM

August 24, 2008 10:42 AM

L
August 24, 2008 10:43 AM
Pray, pray.
August 24, 2008 10:47 AM
I have the connection...... they are saying nothing right now..... post when you know.....
August 24, 2008 10:47 AM

August 24, 2008 10:48 AM
The site is up and running but the updates are slow.
The video is better then the updates.
I've been emailing with my contact at ironman re: bree. He'll let me know once he hears something.

August 24, 2008 10:50 AM
I got this one:
BELINDA GRANGER (#67) went through the first mile well ahead.
* ALISON FITCH (#68) at 10:58
* HEATHER WURTELE (#66) at 18:31
Bree finished the bike in 6th place overall on the Athlete Tracker and was about 12 minutes behind Heather starting the run. So we will have to see how Bree runs. I had the video earlier but it has been hard to connect with it. She must be around mile 4 now.
August 24, 2008 11:01 AM
did she collapse or is she still in it? I'm holding my breath! Hope she's ok!!!
August 24, 2008 11:05 AM
This is when we really need Trakkers up and running!
August 24, 2008 11:08 AM
no kidding!!! Ironmanlive hasn't updated for a while. Is there any news?
August 24, 2008 11:13 AM
I am watching and I have NOTHING!
ARGH!
August 24, 2008 11:16 AM
Any news from Ironman on Bree?
August 24, 2008 11:40 AM
I think she's in 8th place approaching 13.1 mile on run course...
August 24, 2008 12:13 PM
but i don't trust ironmanlive so don't take my word for it...

August 24, 2008 12:22 PM
I hope you're ok Bree. I'm praying for you. Ironman Canada has terrible coverage so nobody knows what's going on.
August 24, 2008 12:25 PM
i just read where she's in 15th place....
August 24, 2008 12:34 PM
Update from Bree's coach...
She's ok.
"Broken derailler, bee sting, flat, still a 5.25 bike split
But was upset and messed up her nutrition so pulled from run course after falling down
Pretty upset but ok..."
sounds like she's out of race.
August 24, 2008 12:37 PM
Oh that sucks! But at least she's alright. it's just sort of a bummer because she was so stoked for this race.

It was not Bree's day, and I am sorry about that. However, I think she can take a well-deserved rest and not have to feel the pressure of Kona in only a few weeks. Bree will bounce back to her normal self soon and there will be many exciting races and times with her friends coming up for her. We are all proud of her.
August 24, 2008 1:27 PM
I am so proud of you Bree. I have been holding my breath all day. Just glad you are okay!!!
August 24, 2008 1:33 PM
Hang tough Bree - you rock!
August 24, 2008 2:30 PM
Hard day Bree, but keep the chin up. We are still proud of you!
August 24, 2008 2:43 PM
We were with you today in Canada...I'm so sorry this was not the day you were hoping, but your title says it all.."Breathe, Hang On, Hold Tight".
You are a winner, Bree Wee! You inspire all of us! Be proud! Stand tall! Remember, we love you in Iowa!
August 24, 2008 2:44 PM
A bee sting, flat tire and broken deraileur and a bike split still under 5:25.. most people would have quit after the first thing that went wrong, but it showed true guts to finish the bike leg despite all the things that went wrong. Sorry things didn't go all that well today, but hold your head high because you have done things some of us have only been able to dream about.
August 24, 2008 3:00 PM
Really sorry it was such a rough outing today...you have all the well wishes we can send from Meredith and I in Ohio.
August 24, 2008 3:19 PM
WOW! Catching up here! I hope you're OK! I logged on to Ironman, and I didn't see run times, and I got worried!
I'm wishing you the best!!
