Icing anyone?!

Burrrrrrrrrr! Just finished warming up after my ice bath, I mean SWIM! It is pretty darn cold. In fact, yesterday on the plane I read that 3 people died in Lightening Lake because of static water. That is where the water surface is warm from the sun but freezing underneath. So... during my swim I wanted to see for myself, I dove to the bottom of the lake and yep, I froze!

The lake is amazing! It is super clean, crystal clear, and calm... I felt smooth, relaxed, calm. Then i looked around, imagined it was race day, and a truck load (semi-truck load) of butterflies came fluttering in my gut! HOLY cow it is almost race day! I am freakin' out, just a little...

My bike is missing in action. Lost somewhere between Hawaii and Canada... of course my wet suit was in there too. Hope it shows up SOON!

Not having my wet suit made for a hilarious morning!! I had to squeeze my thunder thighs and J-Lo booty into my friends! A local Penticton/part time Kona gal lives here & she loaned me her size EXTRA SMALL wet suit... talk about funny stuff! But I got in, cut off all blood circulation, but it worked... hope I don't end up borrowing her extra small bike too!

Have a GREAT day... never let your bike fly without you! AND wet suits are VERY stretchable!

I just love waking up and reading your most recent is way better than the West Hawaii Today (though Peaman columns are a close tie).....honestly, this blog has made clear that a second career in journalism is yours too have....oh maybe third career..teaching, Pro Triathlete, then uber Journalist!! Ah yes the many, many talents of Bree Wee......relax, take it all in. Tila and wettie will find their way to you; they need you as much as you need them:)

Why do the bikes never seem to show up when the people do?! Maybe we shouldn't be blaming the airlines though as I am recalling a recent blog entry where Tila was cuddling with Spiderman's bike?! :)

Anyway - it will all work out. Plenty of time before the race! Enjoy your time in beautiful Canada!

If your bike swims anything like you do I would say you have no worries - it will be there in a flash.

For as much as they charge, you would think they might be able to get the bike there with you, but never the case. Don't try to loose ten pounds in three days to get into that wetsuit, it will come..don't worry!! Loved the J-Lo booty description.. I was laughing!!

Enjoy your race in Canada, Bree. It's a *super* course... with the best spectators and volunteers! Canada was my IronVirgin course in 1997, went back in 2002 and it may be on the list again in the future... You'll do great there!

There may be 3 slots at IM Canada, but all you need is ONE of them. Best of luck and ride like a giant (even if your bike is extra small!) I'm holding out hope that yours is safely on its way.

I would lend you my wetsuit if I could. It is slightly on the small size for me, so it takes me quite a long time of doing various yoga positions just to get it on. If I could have one of Michael P's hand-me downs, that would be just right! Better the butterflies now. Hopefully, they'll be gone by the weekend.

You island girls are so weird. I always figured that (most) water was all freezing down deep except for really warm tropical water, but I guess that is just the New Englander in me.

Don't you remember Sir Mixalot song about your wetsuit problem?

You can do brick workouts and squeeze into tiny wetsuits, but please don't hide that butt...

Wait, no. Totally not how that one goes..

D'oh...The same thing happended to one of the guys I did New Zealand with, His bike case and suitcase containing his tri suit, goggles, wetsuit, and bike shoes didn't show up until the morning of bike check. Our group mechanic was going to lend him his bike, Blue Seventy was going to give him a wetsuit for the race, and the expo vendors were going to sell him a trisuit at dealer cost. The one thing I always do with my race equpiment is I use my large swim duffle as a carry on, that way I have everything but the bike with me, so worst case I can always borrow one equiped with Look Keo pedals.

Worst case talk to the guys at the Expo to see if they'll lend you a wetsuit or a bike afterall you are a pro, and it could lead to an Ironman Canada legend, especially if the guys at the Scott Tent let you borrow a bike..Remember when Bree Wee's bike didn't show up so we lent her a Plasma and she whooped the field by 10 min.....

Great Tripumphs come from Great Adversity...Good Luck and race hard.
