PLEASE Coach!!!

This is a photo from the last time I had a really important question... coach always has a really important reason...

I wrote my coach an email but he is taking his SWEET time thinking about an answer... I know he secretly has spies in the Lifesport office (Janet and Shantel) to name a few that read my blog and tattle on me to him when I write nasty things about him... so I hope they see this and tell him to READ now and ANSWER me now...

Coach,
I need a big favor, a really BIG one... I need you to SAY "yes" to what I am about to ask... I think by saying yes you might just save my life from a boring 3 hour ride this Saturday and give me one heck-of-a-fun-day!

CAN I PLEASE RACE ON MY ROAD BIKE SATURDAY? Here are the details... it is really hard and really painful and I might pass out from lack of oxygen. It starts at the sea and rides STRAIGHT up to the stars (Sea to Stars Bike Race). It ends at the observatory... on Mauna Kea... you know, The United States highest point if you measure from below sea level...

So can I please do it? It is 34 miles long and 9,130 ft of straight up climbing, you need a 27 chain whatever you call it (I have one) and quads like Lance Armstrong (he is loaning me his)... so can I? It will take about 3hrs (I think... ) It has grades of +17% so it will be like climbing the Beast in St. Croix all day long.

So, is that a yes!? I will send you more Weezle Balls and banana bread! I can answer all 5,000 emails you get a day for you, I will even take a week off of giving you a head ache!

Please let me know soon...
Thanks!

PS, I would call and beg over the phone and let you hear me crying of desperation but Kainoa hid my phone!

B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L!!

Tim Marr... course record holder and Hawaii's pro triathlete stud!

lol. We had our Tuesday morning run this morning. If I had seen this earlier I could've told him for you. I think he said he wasn't coming to our morning swim so I bet he'll get your email before I see him next. If I lived in Kona, I'd beg to do the race too. Sounds like a blast.

oh...and my dad happened to sit next to Lance Armstrong on the airplane a few days ago...I kid you not!!!

What fun Bree!!! You would totally rock that race. And racing on the road bike vs tri bike - what a nice break!! I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that your coach agrees! (I have sent similar emails to my coach that start out like "pretty, pretty, pretty please?!?!" :)

Have your escort vehicles and bodyguards carry oxygen cylinders for after you finish the race at the top, and then make sure you don't bike down the mountain.

In Nomine Patri, Et Fili, et Spritu Sanctu ....last rights for your quads

Seriously that climb sounds like it's of the "bring your own Sherpa" Category. Good luck with the race.

Sounds like a crazy race. I agree with Bruce. Bring your oxygen tanks! Hope coach lets you do it and if he does, good luck. I'll be rooting for you.

Don't you have a more important race in your near future? Got to agree with the coach. Sorry kiddo!

Or is Canada and Kona not your goal?

This is what I would say to one of my athletes. (My three athletes.) Focus on your goal and spectate the race after your workout.

You have bigger fish to fry.

This is the kind of honesty you can get from 8,000+ miles away. (or whatever it is) : )

I am on the fence about this. It sounds like an awesome race and it would be hard and fun to do. But as others have stated...what is your focus?

A. Canada

2. KONA!

Good luck in your decision... :)

I am not sure where you are in your training/recovery and freshen up cycle for IM Canada.......BUT....this is about 2 weeks out from your upcoming AAA race (hence a timely jump in your approach to taper) and altitude training....and if anyone knows Bree Wee well; she gets charged from racing; not drained.......seems to me this could be a perfect hard effort/workout in your IM Prep....but yes, Coach has the say with his wisdom and where you are at in your big picture of training. I wish I was there but next year; I hear it is an AWESOME race...right here at home. You rock Bree....juust a really special person!!
