Returning the rock...

There is this belief that if you take a lava rock from the Big Island Pele will be on your case with all sorts of bad luck. There is an entire book published of stories told by those who have tried to take a rock home from the island. See here

Yesterday I got a rock in the mail. Rachel sent it to me from her cousin who had it back on the main land. He was having all sorts of trouble, he sent it to her. She was having all sorts of trouble, she sent it home to me. I had it in my car for a good five minutes and almost crashed 3 cars and an innocent bystander! So I took the rock and laid it on a heaiu (ancient temple). Stacked it neatly, said sorry it was taken, and got out of there! I thought about just throwing it into the ocean, but I was informed that you have to "gently return it to the aina (land)"

After that I ran across the lava in hopes Pele would forgive Rachel's cousin... Just kidding about that part. But I did gently lay the rock on a heaiu, the run across the lava was for the Rave Run.

How disgraceful BREE.... you are running on lava with no swim helmet and no running girdle. What if you fall and hit your head??????

I will be embarrased to be lapped by you on the run next week without those 2 hot items!

:-) Mary!

Those are amazing pictures. From all of us, thank you for putting the rock back nicely. I for one didn't want to read about any more bad luck for our fellow TriBlogger Chickas!

St. Croix 3rd, Japan 2nd, Honolulu 1st! We may fall, but we will rise, and we will fight to the end of our lives. It's time to do it again, Bree, it's time to do it again, Bree, it's time to do it again. Bring the top prize at Longhorn home, Bree, make all in Hawaii proud!
(BS drowning in Guinness, LOL!)
PS Imagining this being rapped.

When I was there, I was told NOT to take any lava. I didn't. When I got home, my friend got a piece from someone here who traveled there. I told her that she needed to send it back NOW. She was single and never found her MAN until that rock came into her life, now she's happily married and living the be damned!
