Beautiful...

This has been one of the most AMAZING years of my life! Simply "beautiful" to sum it up... of course not everything went as planned and things happened in my life outside of sport that I never imagined... but the people I met and places I saw have completely left an imprint on my heart and life that will last a lifetime & in some small way made me a better me...

At the end of last season coach had me start a blog. Very against the idea I grumbled through it. But as the year rolled on some people on the other end of a computer in states I have never been became some of the greatest "friends" I have... now I know why people love that online dating!

Then within the Kona bubble a huge support group/family was born and that has been my rock to return to when things outside of Kona crumble... I have never known a better community in my life and am so blessed to be part of it!

Hawaii to Australia... what a wonderful country! The training camp and lessons learned have made me realize that "team" is more than people in the same outfit with the same coach. My first draft legal and professional race, much like your first prom, it will never be forgotten!

Hawaii to Florida... I left Florida for many reasons but always make my way back to the sunshine state to be with my incredible family...

Florida to St. Croix. Put a stamp on me and send me back ANYTIME! St. Croix was absolutely breath taking! The island life suits me just fine and the laid back residents had as much aloha as Hawaii. The "Beast", Patti & John (my homestay) will never be forgotten!

St. Croix to Hawaii to Japan. Perhaps the most alluring, captivating, intriqing place I have ever been. I still have dreams and nightmares about that experience! The lanuguage, the food, all of it was like nothing ever experienced yet something I can't get enough of. The hearts of the Japanese islanders reminded me that less is more and giving all you have returns ten-fold.

Hawaii to Canada. Canada feels a lot like a second home to me. Victoria is so small and everyone knows everyone. I like that. The trails, the biking, the cold lakes, the views from moutain tops, the bacon, and eh have completly become something worth experiencing a couple times a year, and fortunately twice this season.

Canada to Kentucky... not just another of the 50 states (I will leave it at that). Again some of the most incredible people-even the ones in the grocery stores trying to get me to eat fried chicken legs with them!

Felicity Hart- we first met at St. Croix, met up again in Texas after keeping in touch through emails.

Hawaii to Texas. One word- Tacos. Pretty much that is all I think about when I remember Texas. Tacos and Vicki (my homestay host). Of course I experienced more than tacos and a bad race, I learned a lot about growing up in Texas... they say "Everything is bigger in texas" and perhaps I grew up there too.

Hawaii- and of course nothing beats racing at home, I did a lot of that too!

Yes, I went full blast into my first season. 4 countries (Japan, Australia, Canada & of course the US), several different states, a couple islands (Oahu & St. Croix). Maybe I flew too much, raced a whole lot, but one thing is for sure I had more fun then I ever EVER ever imagined possible! And met people from all over the world that have made my world better...

Bree, cool recap. We met at Longhorn 70.3 at the top of that big hill (Quadzilla) on your last loop, my first. It was awesome getting that chance to say hi, make introductions and share a few seconds.

Looking forward to running into you somewhere out in the world again next year. All the best, and keep the great posts coming.

Bree Good recap...I'm a little jealous of all the globe trotting. If you're doing Rev3 next year and need a guide through the hills the route goes along most of the routes I use to train on. Defintely bring your climbing legs...enjoy the offseason.

And this is just the beginning! I remember when you were starting out this blog and I too was a bit surprised you did, actually (you seemed so busy!). But you really shine in your blog posts. And though I'm in Hawaii several times a year, I've enjoyed getting to know you better through it than in person since you're often jetting around the world and going so much faster than me anyway. Thanks for a look back at your year!

Wow! What a season. I love the pictures and thinking back on where we have come from and how it shapes who we are is just wonderful. You had such amazing highs, and some lows too, but all in all, you came out a very strong, more experienced athlete and I am so proud of you! I'm also bummed that we didn't get to meet when I was in Hawaii. I had a party the night before the underware run so I stayed up cleaning up so I slept in! I did want to go though! Next time! Take care.

What a great season recap! You have had a very special year and it is an experience that many will never have to opportunity to embrace. The travel alone to all of your racing destinations is a thing that many only dream of doing one day. To have families open up their home and their hearts to you and make your "home stay" above and beyond what you ever expected is very special.

If there was a way that I could send you a taco without it getting all gross, I would do it in a heart beat and throw in some chips, queso, and salsa.

Congratulations for getting your first pro year under your (racing) belt!

Congratulations on getting through such a tough year with such panache! You really are a class act, Bree.
