Biggest Nerd Award...

You know you have issues when your sponsor sends you an email with photos attached saying,

"I still can't get over how big of a nerd you are. Every time I see a photo of you it becomes more and more evident".

My sister was visiting when the photos arrived, she fell on the floor laughing and asked me not to tell anyone we are related... BROOKE MYERS IS MY SISTER! She wondered if I was pretending to be on a runway while wearing "that" outfit. She had no idea I changed my clothes 3x... still can't believe it myself... Next race back to business...

AND for the record... I do NOT care how big of a nerd I was on that day, at that finish line, I am racing Kona!!! Okay... who has a more nerdy photo from 2008 race season...?

I don't have much more to say than baaaaaaaaahahahahahahhaha :)

I remember watching the feed and thinking (during the bike), "what the hell is she wearing?". And then a little later on I was thinking (during the run), "now she's changed... and what the hell is she wearing?" hehe :P

Oh yes. I have race photos that should never be seen, usually involving the faces I make when I get out of the swim (finally).

And Wes is right, if you're a nerd, I'll take 2 helpings of that please!

Blogger Samantha said...

I have some pictures of the ugly face I make while running. Everyone makes fun of me for it...and I don't consider you a nerd because those photos show how hard you worked to get that Kona spot!!! You deserve it!!!

I might've asked to keep the finish line tape. Is that considered nerdy? haha.

I think that pic should be a poster for IM...seriously, despite how good, bad, or awful a person feels when they are crossing that finish line--joy is there--it may be muffled by cramps, nausea and a total lack of brain function, but it is there...I won't even go posting my finish photo from IMFL...thanks for sharing your joy!!

You are a nerd in every positive sense of the word...someone who is able to see the beauty and joy in the simple things, someone who gets excited over the things that really matter in life, someone who can laugh at herself and make others laugh with her...
One of the reason's we all adore you is because you are such a "nerd". So be it, you are a very admired nerd.
I like the bottom photo...look at that smile - you couldn't fake that smile if you had to.
Do you think I will be a nerd with an Ironman finish time above my head in a photo someday? It may be more like 19 HOURS, but...oh wait...there's a time limit, isn't there? ;)
Here's to Kona and an awesome 2009 season, from one nerd to another!

This off season you can work on your finishes! HAHA! Start making faces in the mirror for practice. My lavaman finish pose will be the longboarder toes on the nose w/ the hands behind the back. OOOHHH! Try that next time. LOL! Later NERD!

Aw, I think they're cool photos. Does that make me a nerd too?

How's this for nerdy: I drew a 6-pack on myself with a sharpie and then took a picture of it. THEN I had to wear something that SHOWED my stomach in public before the sharpie wore off.
Is that nerdy enough?

I'm very proud of you for breaking away from your "arms spread out to the side/head tilted" pose.

Congratulations Bree. This may be a bigger accomplishment than your IMFL finish.

And I have a few nerdy photos:

And what about doing the run portion of a half IM in a Grim Reaper outfit. Does that count as "nerdy?"

Bree, I agree with some of the people up here.... If that is what a nerd looks like... I want to look like one!
You set out to accomplish one of your biggest dreams, and by way of hard work and effort; you achieved it. congrats to you!
I saw you the morning after the race, eating breakfast... I was going to come and say hi; but I felt like a total stalker; got shy and decided against it. Maybe next time :)

When the clock has a time like that above, you can do whatever you want at the finish line.

You had every reason to celebrate like that with the season you had.

Be proud of those pics and show them to everyone.

Blogger Ordinarylife said...

I agree with the comments above, I would not mind being called a nerd with that time.

I have a photo of me waving my arms around happily and I went so slow they had taken the time off the clock above! I think that classes as a nerd!

Hey Bree, when I look at those pics, I think of Molly Shannon's "Superstar!" skit on SNL. If a nerd means going a 9:16 for an ironman, then I'm buying a pocket protector. Also, the last two times, I think we posted comments on RR's blog at almost the same time, great minds or should I say great athletes think alike.

#2 Where did she get those shorts!
#3 Loving all of the 'Team Wee' shirts around me!

Killer race!
