Off To Hawaii...

I am going to Kona... because that is my home. And I have a VERY special little blue eyed 2 year old waiting for me. With me I am taking some of the most amazing memories and a slot to race IM Hawaii 2009 as a professional. Who knew it would take returning to my old home of Florida to get me to my home town race in Kona...

Many Mahalo's to so many incredible people, you helped make my season possible!

In no particular order:

Coach Paul, you are the best coach any girl with no clue in the world how to put things together could ever have! Thank you for supporting ALL my crazy plans, dreams, and goals. Your support was the grip I needed to keep me going most days. Year 3? Knew you would say YES! Let me know if you need a nutrition plan to keep up with me in 09!

Coach Steve, I will never forget the day I showed up at Kona Aquatics and said I wanted to learn to swim fast. 4 Ironmans this season and thanks to you taking the flopping fish and giving her a bit of skill (52, 54, 53, 53- those are the IM swim times you helped me get!)! See ya at practice Wednesday!!

Charlie and Jay at Trakkers, Getting my website and blog going helped me to get "stuff" out of my head, leaving me with less to think about and more time to play (I mean train). You have been a family! Thank you for laughing with me too...and flying me...and taking a chance...

Splish (Dawn & Ira), there is nothing more fun that wearing a new suit ALL the time, especially when they are ones that make you want to go for a swim! And I always had a good tan after a race!

Bike Works, I LOVE you guys! Still have no clue what the thingy is on my bike or the piece that goes where on the break pads BUT you have kept my bike going and been my family away from home! Far exceeding the job by looking after Kainoa and me!

Asics, YES! YES! YES! Another injury free season! Ben at Asics there is no way I could afford to have all the best shoes and run clothes that kept my feet and legs in one piece! A million mahalos!

Johnson & Blanton, talk about a family! I am so incredibly blessed to have your support... life support, sport support, you name it I got it! I thank God for you guys!

Scott Bikes, If riding 112 miles can be compy (and for me it's pretty compy even in a Splish) it's because your bike fits like a dream...and it has some Vroom!

The Schott & Short Family... THANK YOU! A million thank you's for everything you have done to make sport happen for me...I would be stranded on an island without you! Literally...

NUUN, You make water GOOD! And keep the heat training in the lava fields possible!

My family and friends... I love you A LOT. Your support is PRICELESS!

My training partners...I love you A LOT... Cody, the rides and runs hurt so good, Kate-O I never knew having a girl bike riding buddy could be so awesome, Jen I LOVE the way you make me want to swim and hurt, the treadmill chics- YOU are the coolest! Pablo, thanks for letting me beat you swimming and kicking my bum at everything else- it makes me so frustrated that I work harder than ever, The Saturday Group Ride guys, thank you for letting me tag along-totally toasting me-then doing it again and again and again...

Kainoa... for the hugs and smiles...

Blog Buddies (never thought I would say this) but I LOVE my computer thanks to you! It has been so much fun meeting SO many of you in "real life" and I appreciate the support and being able to read your posts too (so I know I am not the only crazy one)...

Time to pack...

Congrats on the Kona slot! That is awesome. I am so happy for you (and glad that you didn't get blown over with the disc wheel.

Is your name hand written on your run number? I love how even age groupers have these fancy trisuits with tons of sponsor logos, and you blow past everyone with running shorts, sports bra and a hand written race number. How very stealth of you!

You are the queen of sneakiness lately.

Congrats, Bree! It has definitely been a year for lessons. SO happy you were able to pull an amazing race out of the hat! I'm totally in awe of your racing ability - I did 3 ironmans within 4 months and did Fla right after Kona this year... lesson learned - I do not recover that fast!

It was great to see you on course rockin' it and your smiles gave me extra motivation.

Coach Paul was cheering you, giving some tips out on the run course and I thought he was talking to me! That is until you came storming by! Sweet!

How about that! I was so bummed for you earlier when the best laid plans didn't work out, and you just smiled all the way through, at least on the outside. Now you can race next year super smart and be sharp as a razor come October.

Life is sometimes better than we can ever plan it, isn't it.

Congrats Bree, have to admit I was a bit worried that you might dig yourself into a bigger hole when I realized you were doing IMFL. But when I read the mentality you were going into the race with, I had a feeling things would work out. It's amazing how well we perform when we let go. I've raced more and better this season and this was supposed to be the season I take a break from racing. Way to rock the IM PR and Kona slot!

Congrats on the Kona slot. You earned it. Do you remember someone saying nice blog on the bike around 90 miles?

You earned my respect not drafting. The 2nd and 3rd place girls looked like they had domestiques working for them.

Great job...

Way to go Wee!

I think your focus on 2009 Kona is a "warning shot" to some other lady pros. 11 months to prep for a race where you are the home team? WOW!

Ironic that you did it in FL.

Next year one IM? Look out to your qualified with 5 under your belt.

Hugs to you on your off season and taking it in've earned it that's for sure. "Kona 2009!" =0

Congratulations on the Kona slot! As the "year" ends on a high note, my only concern is that you are getting way too fast for me. However, I will try to train hard over the winter months at the pool and hope that the difference between us is not too big by next summer. I just received KPN's DVD so that should be a help to me. Have a safe trip home.

It's been fun from this side of the computer watching your season. As I said earlier, you are an inspiration.

Funny Story - My wife always asks Who's Bree Wee. I had to absolutely LOL when you posted the stories about Ricky Martin. My wife the Dr. of Language Aquisition with a specailty in English as a Second Language is a huge I mean hure Ricky Fan. I've been dragged to two concerts and my little I Pod shuffle always has Ricky on it for some reason. My wife now knows who Bree Wee is.

It's a good life...
