Reef Rash, Bikini's, Little Waves...

Brooke and I grabbed the boards, bikini's, and the only chunk of wax we could find and did what any chic with a board in Kona would do... go surf...

I think the entire town had our same agenda! Not too sure anyone in Kona works when the first swell of winter comes up? There was 21 of us sharing some tiny waves at Lyman's...

Getting snaked again... this time I had to throw my arm in the air and ask "what are you thinking?". I was taking paybacks for Brooke...

Thankfully it is the off-season! That means I can toss my body into any wave and not worry how beat up I get... I hit the coral head pretty bad on one drop, good thing I don't need my right knee for a while...

And another party wave...I am on the left, clearly the first one standing, yet 5 other people decide they want to ride along!

And my sister Brooke about to drop in on some guys head (again)!

It was the perfect Monday... doing something I love so much with my sister. We sure caused a ruckus out there. Triathlon is taking a back seat as the off-season has me indulging in the oceans playground. Tomorrow I am meeting the local paddling boys for some 4-man outrigger canoeing... the surf should still be around...which means the 3 guys and me plan to hurl ourselves and the canoe into some trouble! Thank God for the off-season and no need to keep my body in one piece!

looks like a blast. I think it's so cool you can surf. I struggle to find off season exercise choices this time of year here...cold but no snow yet. I would LOVE to canoe or surf...or roll aroudn in teh ocean as it would be for me. :)

So how does that itty bitty bikini stay ON in waves like that? When we come out (someday...) will you teach me how to surf?

Gah! Looks like a blast. Enjoy the off-season!

And just so you know, pretty much every post you make makes me want to move to somewhere warmer with more nature around (rather than the city :))

Your winter looks COMPLETELY different from mine. :-) I have to get out and learn to surf one of these days... Maybe next year.

I'll have to post some pics from my snowboarding trip next month, that is the closest I'll get to surfing for a while now. :-)

Ah - I'm sure the skiing isn't as much fun as the surfing!!! Maybe one day I will learn. Around here the closest spot is Toffino and it's chilly!!!

Wow Wow Wow!!!

My poor board has not seen any action in a long time. The waves in Galveston, TX are more brown than blue from the silt that washes out of the Mississippi River and never that big. We do have a couple of guys that go out and surf the wake of the tanker ships that come up the ship channel. The benefit is that the waves go on forever.

I got a new board! 7'2" that's short for me. Thanks for reminding me to do something.. I can't s/b/r, too sick, but maybe surf will help my brain.. love that you guys have party waves over there too :) Once I fell off on a party wave and my board shot into Nani's front teeth. Somehow they didn't get knocked out..

Have fun during the "off season" but also take care. I used to know a guy in Kona who had been a really good swimmer, etc., but he ricked his neck jumping off a big inflatable tractor inner tube when having fun and the problems went on forever. Protect your assets!

Great photos!! Sounds like you're having a blast girl. While you're playing in the ocean, I'm scrapping ice off my windshield.

I tried surfing in Maui. Even with my high floatation board, I spent most of the time under water ...can't wait to do it again!!
