The Little Things...

I'm on the lanai listening to Kainoa's wind chimes sing in the Kona breeze, it's a sweet day here. This week has been a good week. Not a lot of expectations in the way of responsibilities have allowed me to simply breathe in the life around me. Just letting go and kickin' back...
.
Dolphins have swam along side us this week, I got to run under 13 plumeria trees all in bloom on one of my runs, shared a sunset dinner on the beach with the girls, laughed with my swim team about everything but chlorine, held hands with my son, and got to appreciate other small pleasures that are often pushed aside because I'm more focused on a bigger picture.
I've got just a few more days on the island to breathe in all the sweet smells, talk story with those that fill me with happiness, and take a few more looks around at the beauty surrounding me. Packing is on the weekend agenda, some family dinners with the parents, and getting my head focused on a flight half way around the world to a place I've always wanted to go...
.
Hugs from the lanai...
Bree

We just watched a program on Africa tonight - hopefully you are able to take some of it in, it was so beautiful! Love that you are enjoying the small pleasures - those are the BEST! I can't even fathom what it must be like to swim with the dolphins...WOW! Enjoy the family dinners.

And holy cow you are a machine! I just read your last few posts because i haven't been online much....you do more in one day then many do in a lifetime! and the way you push and test your body and show people what can be done with it, appreciating life and the little things all along the way, is simply amazing. You define the word "living".

“Bree, Hi, love your blog. Last week I was ill, just some boy flu thing, but I couldn’t train, I missed a half marathon and felt down. My wife was reading your blog so I started it from the beginning and spent the best part of 3 days on the sofa reading it. You kept me entertained, you made me want to get back out and train and we made your “squash noodles” so you made my belly happy too. So I just wanted to say thank you, or “mahalo!”.

I think I finally figured out how to leave a comment by signing up for a google acct thing. Anyway, been following your blog since before Ironman Japan cuz I have a son the same age, do tri's, and love Hawaii, along with the fact you are a great writer and your spirit for life is always an inspiration! Gods speed in Africa and execute, execute, execute! Bring home a giraffe (toy) for Kainoa!
