3 More Sleeps...

With 3 sleeps to go before the "Race Weekend"...since I get to have some painful fun 2 days in a row (Hawaii 70.3 & Kukio Challenge) it's all about get the job done then rest easy. Todays training was a 90 minute ride (with the one and only Belinda Granger). We had some pick ups in there to get the legs moving. And tonight is swim practice. In between....sit, nap, watch a surf flick, make balls.

I've got my trusty side-kick with me every step of the way this week. This morning he helped me change the bar wrap on my bike and give it a good clean up. He picked out new speed laces for the KSwissers, and helped me fill water bottles. It's awesome how Kainoa is growing up and becoming more & more like my best bud along with our mother/son relationship. He totally gets that a race weekend is coming. He has begged over and over to be at the finish line and to pack a picnic (he also understands its a long day for spectators out there). Truly, having his hand to hold day in and day out makes all of this worth it...
...and of course, we rolled balls. Every girl owes her favorite training partners Spirulina Recovery Balls on race week! Here, try to make them yourself, super easy....

In a food processor put: Almonds (good for runners knees), sea salt (electrolytes), dates, flax seeds, honey, spirulina powder (from any health food store), sun flower seeds, pumpkin seeds (you need those to get iron ladies!), and then you mix it all and roll it into a ball.

Better get ready for swim practice! Happy training (or tapering) this week!

Bree...I hope you have an amazing weekend, although we will be missing you at Rev3 Quassy this year! I might just have to ride a roller coaster for you.

And I definitely have to get some spirulina...those balls look amazing! (OMG...is it okay to write that?)

I love the part about Kainoa wanting to pack a picnic....how sweet. That's one of those little things in life that is so priceless and just plain full of happiness. Good luck in the race and enjoy the picnic.
