The sleigh bells are ringing!! Actually, the UHAUL
is packed! Tomorrow is the day about 20 of us head down South to spread the aloha to the little Marshallese
village. What started as a simple project of adopting a family for Christmas turned into gift boxes for each child in the village. Somewhere along the hope to help and the miracles that always seem so real at Christmas time a bunch of hands and hearts got in on this project and it became BIG.
This morning was the last "pick-up" . Off to Waimea
26 wrapped shoe boxes collected from the Kurtistown
Church over on Hilo
side. It ended up being a wonderful meeting of a local woman name Nani who met me half way and blessed me all the way. Christmas always finds a way to bring people together like that. Then the UHAUL
packing. The job was seriously done within record time! What I was thinking would be an hour, maybe more took 20 minutes! The crew was flying up and down our stairs, just pulling the load for each other
. It's been like that all along, everyone pulling together to make this all happen.
From there another check, another box at the Post Office, 4 more gifts at Bike Works, a giant box of shoes from Big Island Running, and LOTS more baked goods were collected from Kona
friends. Just before swim practice I was "considering" to skip. It was late and I was overly tired. Exhausted to the point I finally understand why we leave cookies for Santa, he needs them to make it all day & night long! However, I already skipped my ride to make the Waimea
trip so I landed at the pool. THANKFULLY I landed there! The swim team happened to have at least 200 more cookies, 4 more boxes
, bedding for 2 beds, towels, 6 bags of clothes, and a couple boxes of who-knows-what! It was "the last load".
The gifts from Kurtis Town Church-MAHALO
to all of you on the other side of the island :)

Wendy, she has been such a blessing in all of this! From the day I mentioned the idea she was the first to say, "Ill go with you and Kainoa
". THANKS WENDY!
is now fully loaded with over 250 wrapped gift boxes (at least one for each person in the village), over 400 pairs of shoes, 3 bikes, a scooter, boxes of children's
books & school supplies, 2 boxes of tooth brushes & all sorts of shampoos and soaps (at least one set for each person), 22 boxes of clothes, 6 bags of clothes, LOTS of toys, over $2,000 dollars, and of course the pinata and food!!
loading the load tonight after practice! He is so excited, its 9:30 pm as we are finally finishing the last minute packing and details that he can't sleep, me either! THANK you all (again) for every shoe, every dollar, every cookie, every gift and each piece of clothing. For the toys, the time you invested in helping make this all happen, and of course those that waited in those LONG lines at the post office to send us stuff from all over the world. Good night to you all, lots and lots of ALOHA!
