Dede rode the Purple Princess

Do you see that bike in the photo? The purple Kestrel? (nick named the purple princess) . It was my first "real" bike (2004). A hand-me-down from my friend "Bee". I just LOVED that bike. It was a strange purple color, it had aero bars, I put cool camouflage bar wrap on it... it was AWESOME!

Then it got even more cool! In 2004 Dede Griesbauer borrowed it! That's right. Then, 2004 USA Top amateur female triathlete came to race Ironman Hawaii and needed to borrow a bike. Her bike got crushed on the flight over to the islands. AND my bike was the only one that fit her!

That year 2004- Dede posted the fastest amateur bike split... ON MY COOL PURPLISH COLORED BIKE! She turned pro after that. & me, I just kept thinking my bike was SO cool! I always would tell my bike to "hurry it up!" "Get your wheels going!". I thought since Dede made it go fast it would be faster!

This year Dede (in her 3rd year as pro) placed 7th female overall and first American woman (but on her own bike). Me, I retired that purple Kestrel in 2006 after the birth of my son. I sold it to buy a crib... and eventually fell in love with SCOTT...Scott bikes :)

Now I am on a mission for Chris Lieto to borrow my bike... then when I yell at my bike to go faster and get it's wheels rolling it will really move!

If you want to learn more about Dede check her out! Dede Griesbauer

For what it’s worth, I loved that bike too! I’d ridden it all of 10 minutes before I jumped on board for Ironman that year! The Purple Princess served me well!!

Well if you're ever in New England, come by and borrow MY bike (PLEASE!). Or better yet, my running shoes. I could really use some of your speedy vibes.
