St. Croix... 3rd

Thank you all so much for all the support! I am so appreciative. I could feel the prayers and love and cheering all the way down here in the Carribean! The entire trip & experience has been unforgetable! This place is my second favorite spot in the world only to Kona. I could live here. I think the heat, wind, hills, hot sun, locals, a bit 3rd world style, very laid back made me feel so much at home. I felt like I belonged (unlike in Australia where I was out of place and felt like a kook).

The race is the hardest I have ever done. The hills are un-ending and hurt like a Bee-atch! But I was just so happy, so very happy that I was able to block out any mental battles and drift off into a little paradise of my own. I may have waved a bit much to all the crowds because my arms hurt worse than my legs! And my smile is frozen to my face! Honestly I can not get over how much I love this place and the course! I could not NOT smile...it felt like Kona to me.

Post race I hung around with some locals and got a massage. I then walked the board walk and tried to soak up as much of the island as I could before I leave tomorrow afternoon. THEN I rode home to my homestay. That was the longest 7 miles on the bike ever...I had to climb so many hills to get to their house (I did consider walking my bike) but rode instead just so I can ride some more in St. Croix. Now done with lunch, a swim in the pool, and a shower. Tonight is awards where I can hardly wait to get a pay check $$$! (Thank you God!)

Tomorrow I will try to write up my race report unless I am snorkling WHICH I REALLY WANT TO DO!! Then once I hit Florida I will post a bajillion photos. AND a cool video I took of the mocojumbies!

Again, many mahalos to my family, supporters, and friends for the unconditional support even if I took last place! I love you...
Wee

OH BREE, I am so HAPPY for you, as I know you were a little nervous at the party lastnight!! You DID IT,,,I watched you start from the beach today and was going to give you a yell, but did not know if you had your game face on :) I really wanted to go to the award ceremony tonight and watch you get your prize $$$$$, but I am a emotional wreck and did not want to be a downer, so stayed in my room...PLUS I look like a lobster:) I got fried out there today!!!!

Hugs to you, as you are AWESOME inside and out

Following the race was an awesome experience (and so glad St. Croix provided live radio coverage). It was nerve-wracking, too. A guy fell off his bike on the wet road, one of the best ladies got a flat, sometimes the news update was a bit wacky (like they confused who was who), making me wonder. What if I had to write something like that? I wasn't trying to track a bionic pro (possibly made of nuts and bolts) I had just read about, but someone all of us (who have lived) in Kona used to train with, have fun with and just do all the little and big races together with and hang out with after the race. I subsequently learned Miranda went under 1hr 20m on the run, running faster than all but two pro men. There was something (or some people) that must have set her on fire on the run. I think that made the race all the more exciting. It was a race if there ever was one.
