Canada, Eh???

Josh (one of my biggest supporters), me, coach, and Jamie (my swim partner who taught me everything I know about long distance swimming)

Bree: Coach... I had fun, I gave it my best, BUT I gave up 9 minutes down some hills. I broke Paula Newby-Fraisers IM Japan course record by 7 minutes... but Naomi broke it by 10. I lost. No Kona for me...

Coach: Bree, only think on the positives right now. Nothing else. let the positives soak in & celebrate them. Stop thinking... I have a plan... I will tell you about it later..

Bree: Well, glad you have a plan... BUT I already have one. Can you make me run fast? Let's just train me for Honolulu Marathon. Let's just learn to run the rest of the season, forget triathlon...

Coach: BREE STOP THINKING! Take a week off thinking about it.

Bree: I changed my mind... Lake Placid is in 4 weeks. I am ready. Can I go? I will try to qualify there... I am not even sore. No injuries. Let's do it!

Coach: Bree, call me when you get home.

Bree: Coach, what is my plan?

Coach: I was talking to Lance, we were laughing at you. I know you too well. I told him I bet you would want to train for the marathon, then I told him you would change your mind, then I told him you would look into a fall Ironman, then I told him you would go for Canada...

Bree: YES! That's it... let's do it! Sign me up... put me in the game coach, I am ready to play!

So... Canada it is! I could not be more excited... my coach on the side lines, Josh, my favorite swimmer in the world (Jamie lives in Canada), my Trakkers sponsor will be there, A HUGE crew of Kona friends are racing, and Eileen (I am pretty sure). Don't count this girl out of Kona just yet... I will try-try again in August!

Just remember your duct tape..Its a multipurpose Canadian wonder. You never know when you'll need it...perhaps to seal your wet suit should the zipper dismantle, tape a gel or two to the bike.........Perfect timing, too Bree! Gives you some good "build" after that stellar race of yours in Japan! ;)

Awesome! You are such a fine athlete and a motivator. You are so positive and it pours into everything you do. Thank you so much for sharing your life with us. I will be following your race in Canada.

Bree Wee!
I don't you and you don't know me, but I'm excited about you at IMC!

I'm gonna hunt you down in Penticton (in a good way haha) for my pre-race brush with a pro ;)
I am soooo glad you didn't qualify through Japan (again, in a good way!) :D

Count you out??? Heck no! I had a feeling you'd be doing another IM in the fall, just wasn't sure which one. Can't wait to follow you in Canada!!

i would never count you out!! i think canada is a great choice(obviously, lol) and you will love the bike course - long climbs and descents and none of that technical crap, aero bar all the way down ;). you will really be able to capitalize on all of the fitness gains you have made and the experience gained from racing in japan and put it to work for you! i am so excited for you!!!

p.s. i thought about you when i was racing and just knew you would be racing kona again

After what happened in Japan, I knew Amanda was planning to focus on Canada, and so I wondered if that was a second chance for you, too. I'm glad this is your coach's suggestion. He knows what is best for you and he can make sure you are in tip-top condition for it. Get him or DB to teach you how to repair flats quickly (like at midday on the Akoni Pule past Kawaihae), as wasn't that what messed you up last year in Canada? If I can help you train for the Kona race in any way this year, I will do so nearer the time.

This post is boring...change it already! LOL!

That is really exciting and it is awesome you can just take your energy and focus on that now. Everything happens for a reason, I know you know that, but it's always good to be reminded sometimes. You will be the better for what happened in Japan, really you will - now start training! I mean rest! I mean rest hard!!

Congratulations on your next big adventure. Wish I could be there to cheer you on.

Good luck in Canada. They're such a peaceful people, that in the unlikely event that someone DOES get in front of you, I'm sure if you asked them to just please move aside, they'd oblige.

Happy training! I know you'll kick some major ass!

Good luck in Canada. Thank you for the encouragement. I'm excited for the race tomorrow.

Bree, I'll be looking for you tomorrow while I'm running with Rebecca. I would LOVE for you to help me with a plan for Lavaman after you win Kona. I'm so excited that you get to do Canada. I'm sure Randy and I will be glued the the computer again when you race. Hopefully they'll have a live feed. See ya tomorrow.

Randy said...

You'll rock Canada, Bree. And thanks for the encouragement for the marathon tomorrow. As far as what motivational words you can give me from your mountain bike as I'm running 26.2 miles in the hot Kona sun, these will work:
"Randy, wanna use my bike?"

Oh my gosh missy, I havent heard from you in ages. I miss you too.

Pray that somehow God will bring me back to my old-old-crazy-nerdy-sensitive-Godlovin-worship friend again...YOU!
